Simple Energy and SMUD have launched a new online Marketplace dedicated to providing SMUD customers with energy-saving products at affordable prices.

SMUD Energy Store, available at, offers a variety of smart thermostats, connected home products, lighting products, water-saving products and outdoor living products. Many items come with instant online rebates, significantly reducing the out-of-pocket prices of products such as NEST learning thermostats and Phillips LED bulbs. The partnership is Simple Energy’s first with a municipal utility.

“SMUD is a model to utilities across the country for their commitments to innovation and customer satisfaction,” says Simple Energy CEO Yoav Lurie. “We are very excited to help them deliver a seamless way for customers to take meaningful, energy-wise actions.”

Utilizing our expertise as the nation’s leading provider of utility-branded marketplaces, Simple Energy has partnered with SMUD to take the guesswork out of shopping for energy-related products. Each item in SMUD Energy Store has been carefully selected by SMUD energy experts based on a variety of criteria, including price, quality, manufacturer support and warranty, the ability to save SMUD customers energy and more. As with other Simple Energy Marketplaces, products purchased from SMUD Energy Store typically ship in one to two business days and orders over $49 ship for free. All other orders ship for a flat rate of $5.

“For years our customers have been asking us to recommend products that will help them save energy and money,“ says Nicole Howard, SMUD’s chief customer officer. “SMUD Energy Store offers a wide variety of these products in an easy-to-use, efficient online marketplace. We’re excited to provide a new service to our customers that we think they’ll find very valuable.”

Simple Energy will work with SMUD to continually add new products to the SMUD Energy Store over time, as well as help launch new services and tools over the next several years.
