At Uplight, we’re committed to giving back to our planet and our communities. The TeamUp! volunteer program is built around creating opportunities for Uplighters to engage in meaningful volunteer work, while addressing real needs within our communities, including serving unhoused families, children, women and trans folks, and seniors. Uplight encourages every employee to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per year— no time off necessary. In 2024, Uplighters volunteered for a total of 250 hours.
At the close of 2024, many Uplighters participated in the holiday season volunteering all over the US. In addition to in-office food drives, here’s what they did:
- Boston, MA – Organized toiletries and supplies for Boston Rescue Mission, a shelter serving homeless or at-risk individuals.
- Broomfield, CO – Sorted donated clothes for A Precious Child, an organization supporting children in need, to be displayed in their cost-free store.
- Denver, CO – Helped Food Bank of the Rockies in processing food to provide 65,000+ meals for families in need.
- Denver, CO – Made over 50 gift and care packages for women, non-binary and transwomen residences in need for The Delores Project, which provides a trauma-informed shelter for women, transgender, and nonbinary individuals, as well as support services and housing for people of all genders.
- Longmont, CO – Assisted with construction and landscaping for Habitat for Humanity, an organization providing affordable housing solutions to families in Boulder county and surrounding towns.
- Portland, OR – Organized, cleaned, and stocked to create a welcoming environment for families for Ronald McDonald House, a charity providing support for seriously ill or injured children and their families.
- Washington, DC – Put together food boxes for seniors facing food insecurity, helping Capital Area Food Bank feed individuals in the D.C. area.
Creating Meaningful Change Outside of Work
Uplight’s Steph Pérez-Prokop, Senior People Experience Manager, writes that, “As a Certified B Corporation, we define success not just by financial growth, but by the positive impact we create for society. Our volunteer efforts embody our mission to drive meaningful change, reflecting our commitment to fostering stronger, more inclusive communities. By supporting local organizations, we not only empower individuals facing challenges but also enrich the experiences of our employees, helping them build meaningful connections and strengthen relationships with their coworkers—all while living by our B Corp values.”
From helping local food drives to supporting families in need, Uplight’s TeamUp program has allowed Uplighters to build stronger connections with local organizations and make a positive impact in our communities. We look forward to continuing and expanding this work in 2025.
