Uplight Helps Colorado Fire Victims

Colorado Wildfires

This year wildfires have spread across the Western part of the U.S., even to our backyards for Uplighters living in Colorado. October in the Western region especially has seen extensive fire growth due to dry conditions. It has caused many evacuations and loss of homes. While heartbreaking to watch, the Uplight community came together to support those impacted by the local the East Troublesome Fire, which is now the second largest fire in Colorado’s history.

The fire not only destroyed hundreds of acres in the beloved Rocky Mountain National Park, but burned an unknown number of homes in the Grand Lake area–claiming lives and displacing thousands of Grand County Residents. Uplighters donated food, water, clothes and PPE that went directly to those who needed it most. Others donated directly to relief funds or chipped in to an epic Costco run.

Our counterparts at AES also donated to the effort and even helped drive the two trucks full of supplies to the Grand County. Every meal, winter coat, charger, toiletry, or just a book made such a difference, brought many people to tears and showed Uplight’s commitment to our community.

Colorado Wildfire Donations

We all have experienced, in one form or another, challenges this year. Many of our local communities have been grappling with the effects of climate change and social injustice. Just as Uplight works hard to create a sustainable future in our professional work, it is just as important for us as Uplighters to show up for our own communities in need.

To help with these efforts, you can donate to the Grand Foundation as well as other local organizations.
