On top of the heat waves this summer, Uplight is thrilled to have won two awards: the Environment + Energy Leader top award and Fast Company’s Best Companies for Innovators.
Environment + Energy Leader’s Top Product of the Year
Uplight’s Plus product received a Top Product of the Year Award as part of the Environment + Energy Leader Awards program. The Environment + Energy Leader Awards is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits, and in projects implemented by companies that improved environmental or energy management and increased the bottom line.
With Plus, Uplight became the first utility partner to offer a subscription-based customer experience allowing customers to pay the same amount each month, providing a new level of predictability and control over spending. Leading utilities including AES Indiana, Duke Energy and others launched Plus as part of successful pilots. AES Indiana used Plus to pilot a subscription energy bundle with budget billing, digital payments, and green energy enrollment. Within the first three months of launching Plus with a pilot population of 2,000 residential customers, AES Indiana saw a 26% increase in autopay enrollment and a 67% increase in green energy program enrollment.
Fast Company’s Best Companies for Innovators
Fast Company recognized Uplight on its fourth annual Best Workplaces for Innovators list, honoring organizations and businesses that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to encouraging innovation at all levels. Uplight earned a spot on the list for its creative, pioneering, and scalable approach to powering the energy transition and helping energy providers decarbonize.
With an emphasis on facilitating an environment where employees can collaborate, in 2021, Uplight moved into a new headquarters designed with Uplight’s focus on sustainability as a B Corporation. The office has a net-zero carbon footprint including rooftop and innovative wall-mounted solar panels and solar cells, is located close to Boulder’s transit center, and offers free bikes for company use. Uplight’s in-house design team used reclaimed or recycled materials as much as possible throughout the process.
Another way Uplight attracts and retains top talent is through its Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). These affinity groups formed around common identities, shared bonds, or similar backgrounds and are typically rooted in supporting traditionally marginalized communities. Uplight ERGs include Military Connection, Moms of Uplight, NEURODiversity, Parents of Uplight, PRISM Alliance: LGBTQ (+) Affinity & Allies, Organized Marginalized Genders, and Women in Tech.
These awards reflect the hard work and determination of the Uplight team to not only create great products that accelerate decarbonization, but to also create an energizing and supportive company culture. To find out more about working at Uplight, check out our Careers page.
