Building electrification is coming and it’s going to have big impacts on the grid. The electrification of heating, in addition to transportation electrification, and new industrial development (like data centers), is accelerating load growth at levels not seen in decades. Managing the grid successfully during the energy transition will require a concerted effort to ensure that this new building electrification load is managed load–and does not add to the existing grid strain.
