Most recently, Uplight employees volunteered with Veterans Community Project at their Longmont, CO location through our TeamUP! volunteer program, helping paint the exterior of two homes—furnished and ready to welcome new veterans in need of housing.
For those who participated, the experience was a meaningful reminder of the impact small actions can have when they are rooted in care, dignity, and community.
“Having the opportunity to come together as a team and put forth a few hours of physical work toward creating a more inviting, safe home for our local veterans was really amazing,” shared Christina Molina, Vendor Coordinator. “Seeing people from different teams within Uplight come together and work with the VCP community is special. The authentic, heartfelt time spent for the benefit of other people is truly the most meaningful thing—that’s what truly changes the community.”
The team also had the opportunity to tour the inside of a tiny home and learn more about VCP’s philosophy of care, which supports veterans through health and wellness, opportunity, money management, empowerment in navigating resources, and social connection throughout their program.
“A fresh coat of paint might not seem like much, but the dignity and worth it might help a veteran feel is invaluable,” shared Andrew Phillips, Senior Operations Engineer. “More than that, it’s a simple way we can tangibly heal brokenness in the world as fellow human beings, starting with our local communities.”
