No one could have predicted the truly unprecedented year 2020 has been as the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and work. In the midst of it all, Uplight’s utility partners have sought innovative ways to better serve their customers as trusted and stable energy providers–with impressive results and press coverage.
Uplight has also won several awards based on our work with our utility clients. Here are the highlights from this past year spotlighting Uplight clients and Uplight.
Consumers Energy in Michigan selected Uplight to help them create personalized, end-to-end customer journeys, ultimately helping customers save energy and the utility transition to clean energy. Best of all, Consumers Energy’s own journey to a more sustainable future was featured in the Wall Street Journal.
This year Uplight partnered with several utilities to give away free thermostats to customers who enrolled in energy saving Demand Response programs like Consumers Energy, which aimed to give away 100,000 Google Nests. Consumers Energy won a Cleanie Award® in the “Keep the Power On” category for their work on serving customers during COVID-19.
Eversource was recognized as a Fortnightly Top Innovator of 2020 for their virtual home energy audits and online energy profile that helped them serve customers in their homes during the pandemic.
Adrian Tuck won the highly competitive Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year for the Mountain Desert Region award with 22 other regional leaders.
Uplight was a winner of Grid Forward’s First Grid Innovator award for our role as a leader in grid modernization.
El Paso Electric launched an Uplight Marketplace giving customers an option to enroll in their Demand Response program, called the Energy Wise Savings Program.
Working with Enel X, Uplight launched the first electric vehicle demand management charging program at Orange and Rockland and Central Hudson utilities in New York, enabling customers to charge their EVs during the times of the cleanest power generation.
You can’t mention 2020 without talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, and Uplight’s insights about increases in residential energy usage due to more people staying at home were featured in UtilityDive along with our recommendations for utilities.
Uplight’s Tanuj Deora article about Climate Change and the Biden presidency was in the Public Utilities Fortnightly Magazine.
Another big topic for the world as well as for Uplight is diversity and inclusion, and Uplight’s work on eliminating bias was featured in Built in Colorado.
