Changing to LED Lightbulb

The Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) has hosted six years of Best Practices Awards, recognizing leadership from electricity providers in the transition to a smarter, more consumer-focused energy ecosystem. According to SECC, the awards highlight programs, technologies, and strategies that have demonstrated clear benefits for residential or small business utility customers.

This year, Evergy won the 2023 Customer Engagement SECC Best Practice Award. The utility was recognized for leveraging its new online Offer Center, powered by Uplight, to effectively reach income-eligible customers and offer free energy-efficient products to approximately 183,000 Missouri households through a simple, streamlined process. Each household that participates saves on average $265 by replacing halogen light bulbs with 6 free LED light bulbs–the equivalent of 1.5 weeks of groceries.

Natalie Gray, Manager of DSM Energy Efficiency Programs and Services at Evergy said, “Uplight’s Offer Center is a new way in which Evergy can easily reach our most of-need communities with no cost energy efficiency options. We are very excited about the level of interest and participation we have seen to date and what future opportunities may include to continue utilizing this resource channel for engagement and positive customer impact.”

Uplight’s Offer Center enables utilities to provide truly free and no-strings-attached energy-saving products with a simple eligibility process, perfect for helping the most vulnerable customers save money now and in the future.
