Team Spotlight: Margot Moseley

Margot Mosley

Every month, we interview an Uplight employee to get to know more about what they do at Uplight, why they love working here, and what inspired them to get into this industry! This month, I chat with Margot Moseley, a member of our Orchestrated Energy team!

What do you do for Uplight?

I manage the Operations for the Orchestrated Energy product line and our Demand Response pre-enrollment programs. This means that I am the technical escalation point for anything customer or client facing for Orchestrated Energy. I manage everything from troubleshooting enrollment questions, to the operations associated with our DR event days, and am routinely helping manage client expectations and providing deliverables. I am working day to day with our OE clients throughout both the event season and the enrollment season helping answer program questions and troubleshooting technical issues. It’s been quite a busy summer!

What do you find most exciting or rewarding about working for Uplight?

Knowing that I am on a team of people with the shared goal of accelerating the clean energy ecosystem makes getting up every morning and working hard easy. After graduating from college, the only thing I knew is that I wanted to pursue a career where I would have a sustainable impact of some sort. Uplight is absolutely the place to be for that. I find that my position is extremely rewarding as I have a direct line of sight to tangible results from the work I do every day. Seeing those kW load shift numbers come through after an event and knowing that I am a part of the team that made that happen makes me feel like I am actively making a positive impact. I see the value and potential of the Orchestrated Energy platform and am genuinely excited every day by it’s potential and growth trajectory.

How does the work you do contribute towards creating a more sustainable future and better customer energy experiences?

The work I do is inherently focused on providing a positive customer energy experience while also enabling our company to be an effective Demand Response Management System provider. Demand Response programs are an essential path towards a more sustainable future as they allow for a more reliable and efficient energy network. I work every day to address issues with and improve our customers’ energy experiences while incorporating that feedback to drive product enhancements. I feel that I am not only working to better our electrical grid’s reliability, but also working to better improve how utility customers interact with and implement this solution.

How did you get into this work?

I have always found Demand Response to be one of our most interesting software solutions when it comes to energy efficiency and preparing for the extreme weather that’s likely to worsen in coming years. I am very glad to have found my way to this team as a part of last summer’s merger. This work allows me to challenge myself in a technical environment, while also allowing room for collaboration and communication with our partners and clients.

What has been your favorite project so far at Uplight?

The exponential growth of the OE product line over the past year! It’s been a whirlwind but it’s been extremely rewarding to see the results and impacts the OE product has produced. I look forward to another year of a lot of growth! This will surely come with it’s own set of new challenges, of which I am sure we’ll be able to figure out!

What is one thing that has most surprised you about working here?

I am surprised everyday by my coworkers. Every single person I interact with is kind, smart, and hard working. I feel that I am greeted around every tough corner with a smile and support, and I value that more than I can even say! Working at Uplight on the OE team is simply a treat.
