Consumers Energy, Simple Energy Team up For Utility E-commerce Platform Launch in Michigan

Boulder, CO – October 21, 2015 – Simple Energy, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company that uses behavioral science, big data analytics, and digital marketing to educate and empower consumers on energy consumption, and Consumers Energy, Michigan’s largest utility, today announced a collaboration that will integrate Simple Energy’s Marketplace platform into Consumers Energy’s existing energy efficiency program. The partnership is part of a year-long pilot program to increase customer satisfaction and empower customers to better understand their energy consumption to conserve energy and money.

The Consumers Energy Store will be available to 250,000 Kalamazoo residents in approximately 100,000 households. Through the store, customers with central air-conditioning will receive a $50 instant rebate and free shipping on select models of Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostats, including Nest, ecobee and Honeywell. The Consumers Energy Store will integrate with the utility’s existing loyalty and customer engagement solution, Smart Energy Challenge.

Consumers Energy chose Simple Energy’s Marketplace due to its ability to integrate with Consumers Energy’s existing energy efficiency program and align with its objectives of increasing its installed base for future demand response and peak pricing programs
